July 4 – Day 4

Holy Shad! After the announcement of the Shad Valley Cup theme on preventing obesity in youth, the bar has been set at Lakehead. In preparation for this challenging project, we had many lectures throughout the day based on the topic given. Aside from intertwining ideas and creative thinking, we viewed a plethora of presentations regarding obesity that opened our minds to new ideas and possibilities.

Barry Bisson, the President of Shad Valley, was the main highlight of the day. He provided us with insight into the future of the program. In the upcoming year, more opportunities will be given to future Shads and alumni. Some of the initiatives that will be established in the near future are: Shad Plus and Shad Angels.  Shad Plus is a special program designed to provide Shads with special opportunities and exclusive access to enrichment and advancements in the sciences and business sectors. Shad Angels is a fund established to assist Shad alumni to help oversee their goals and visions of the future. Additionally, Shad Valley will be adding new campuses to the program next summer. All of these initiatives are created to further challenge, support, and encourage Shad success.
